Description
A nice Egyptian 3rd Intermediate ushabti, Dynasty 21-22, c. 1075 - 720 BC, the owner of which is the Osiris, beloved of the god, djed-khonsu-iou-ef-ankh, ( possibly from the cache 2. deir el bahri, but not certain, at this period several owners with the same name are known), mummiform, wearing tripartite headdress with shesh head band, arms folded across chest, hands holding hoes, bag on back and vertical column of hieroglyphic text down front. H: 4 5/8 in (12 cm). Quite attractive with crisp text. Mounted on tiered black lucite base. Ex property from the collection of Joseph Klein (1899-1987), New York City. Mr. Klein sought out and acquired these souvenirs as part of his vast collecting interests. Said to have collected in the manner of an 18th century connoisseur, his overall collection showcased his diverse array of artifacts acquired over a period of 45 years and included the art of ancient China, Egypt, Persia, Greece and Rome.
