Description
A necklace strung with Egyptian scarabs and scaraboids. The scarabs mostly date from the New Kingdom, c. 1570 - 1075 BC, with a couple bearing a cartouche of Thutmose III, and all but one are steatite. The blue faience scaraboid has the back in the form of a nicely detailed Eye of Horus, the goddess Maat seated on the base. The scarabs are strung with antique red glass and circular seed beads and the necklace is strung on modern cord and clasp. Largest scarab measures 1.9 x 1.3 cm, necklace L: 23 2/3 in (60.2cm).
