Description
An Egyptian limestone column fragment, Late Period, c. 664 - 343 BC, one quarter of the circumference of a stone column, featuring a seated pharaoh and hieroglyphics. The pharaoh is seen seated in profile facing to the right and wears an Osiride beard and names head cloth. He is seated on a throne and holds a Was scepter in his hands. The pharaoh faces a couple of registered of hieroglyphics, of which some are clearly visible including a couple of eye symbols (representing 'ir') and a nicely depicted facing owl on a standard. The piece is mounted and measures 14.25 in x 10 in x 7 in. 18 in tall with base. A rare opportunity to purchase a piece of an ancient Egyptian column.
