Description
An attractive Egyptian cartonnage fragment depicting Anubis, Late Period, c. 664 - 332 BC, the god in a classic pose as ‘Guardian of the Necropolis’ reclining on a bier, staff between his paws and a flail over his shoulder. The pigments are well-preserved with bright colors and good detail. Panel itself measures 3 ¾ in x 2 5/8 in (9.2 x 6.7 cm). Ex Ancient World Arts ltd, New York, early 1990’s.
