Description
A Phoenician bronze vessel handle with an eagle between human heads, c. 5th Century BC, his wings spread atop their heads. The eagle stands on two conjoined panther protomes, a hole behind each head and two loops at the back. L: 4 ¼ in (10.8 cm). Mounted on a custom stand. Ex collection of Prof. Hugo Munsterberg (1916-1995), New Paltz, New York, acquired from Petit Museé, Montreal in 1978.
