A striking design executed with movement in mind, this attractive platinum pin features diamonds and a stunning lapis lazuli cabochon. Measuring 9 by 7.5 millimeters, the cabochon is set in the marquise shaped point of a dangling element which has four collet set diamonds along the length and a hexagonal element. With fifty eight rose cut diamonds throughout, there is an estimated total weight of 1.10 carats. Accompanied by a period box, the piece is in overall good condition with the pin is in working order and wear commensurate with age.
Lapis lazuli which has been prized since antiquity and demonstrates lovely golden inclusions of pyrite visible to the eye. Used as an ultramarine pigment of the old masters like Dutch painter Johannes Vermeer (1632-1675) for Girl with a Pearl Earring, lapis lazuli has been an enduring semi-precious stone which has illustrated versatility and appeal throughout the tests of time.
