Charles Alfred Meurer (Terrace Park, Cincinnati, Ohio, 1865-1955) 12" x 15" oil on canvas of landscape with wheat stalks. Signed lower left "C.A. Meurer". Meurer was principal at the St. Julian School of Art in 1891. He studied with Duveneck, Noble, and Meakin at the Cincinnati Art Academy and in Paris with Laurens, Constant, Ferrier, & Doucet. He was a member and on the board of directors of the Cincinnati Art Club. He exhibited at the Art Institute of Chicago, Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts, Chicago Society of Fine Arts, and the Cincinnati Art Museum. His work was in the collections of the Parkview Hotel, United Bank Building, and Courier Press Club in Cincinnati, Ohio. Listed in Fieldings, Mallett, Who's Who, Davenports, etc. Two very small patches; otherwise, good condition. EST. $600. - $1200.
