    John Hawke explores representations and productions of public space through painting, prints and urban interventions. His painting has evolved through an on-site practice in which the artist abstractly maps public space, noting its public, private, and interdicted spaces, while dialoguing with local residents about art and their environment. His paintings and prints are investigations at the level of metaphor of the processes of enclosure of public space and how the differing vectors of spatial ownership collide.
