Early 18th century strumpwork embroidered panel with metallic thread, central feathered roundel enclosing flowers and foliage and within a border of 8 peacocks, each with beaded eye and three plumes on head, the whole decorated with flowers and vinery, the four corners with stylized scrolled flowering vines issuing a central flowering stem, on royal purple fabric and bordered in gold metallic thread fringe. Approximate size 18" x 17".
