Description
After the McKenney & Hall lithographs published in "History of the Indian Tribes of North America" between 1837-1844. "Mistipee, Yoholo-Micco's Son" and "Yoholo-Micco, A Creek Chief", chromolithographs, unsigned. Lithographs rendered after the paintings by Charles Bird King (American, 1785-1862) depicting the Native American Indian chief and his son, each presented at waist length wearing traditional tribal dress and having paint to face. Each inscribed below image with name of figure, further inscriptions unseen below mat. Lithographs each presented in frames mounted with cut twig border and incised wooden mat. Framed approximately 26.375" x 21.25", sight size approximately 14.75" x 10.25".
Condition
Works are after the originals and are later reprints. Prints laid down on board and with strongly adhered mats (adhesive likely over some of the sheet). In conducting a firsthand condition report, we did not remove the mats as they were tightly clinging and did not want to compromise the integrity of the prints. Colors rich and saturated--no signs of fading, toning or foxing to sheets. No signs of rips, tears or holes (however, there could be some under mats of which we are unaware).
