Description
ASIAN LACQUERED PANELS, LOT OF TWO, comprising a Japanese black lacquer panel with inset bone and mother-of-pearl in relief, depicting a male figure pulling a rickshaw with a female passenger, with a butterfly and a bird in flight overhead; and a Chinese gold painted panel with raised border, with black painted background elements, and inset stone relief depicting an elderly male figure, probably one of the Taoist immortals, with a young boy and a deer as companions, with some background details also in inset stone relief. Probably early 20th century. The first 18" x 11 1/4", the second 18 1/2" x 12 1/4".

Condition
Very good condition overall, some wear; black lacquer with some crazing, especially near inset elements, and three spots of loss to back where it was nailed down to another surface.
