A KPM Porcelain Plaque, circa 1900
Finely painted in polychrome enamels with an image of the Virgin Mary holding her hand to her breast, her eyes cast upward, the verso stamped in blue with A. Lamm lamb mark, Made in Germany, signed in black "Testa della Virginie" A. VanDyck, impressed KPM with baton, impressed with stylized hive, the image enclosed within a heavily carved and gilt frame.25 1/2" x 16 1/2". Condition: plaque in excellent condition, no damage or repair; frame with loss to bottom right foliage, multiple small flakes and losses to exterior foliage, small cracks, two cracks to oval frame area, top centered leaf and two boughs below with old repairs, hairline cracks to some leaves, gilding lightly worn and revealing red under tones, expected wear for age.
