A Royal Vienna Porcelain Urn
Late 19th century, fitted as a lamp, beautifully painted in polychrome enamels with classical scenes on recto and verso enclosed within heavily gilt and tooled cartouches, the bottom of the double-handled vase gilt, painted en grisaille with grotesques and scrolling foliage on an iron red ground, surmounted by a band of lush floral garlands, all raised over a square base painted with grotesques and scrolling foliage and beaded metal base, the bottom of the base with underglaze blue beehive mark. 26"H base to finial. Condition:urn lid affixed to body, the body screwed into the foot of the urn, 1/8" flake to one corner of porcelain base, one very light area of rubbed gilt to lid, a few very light scratches to gilt surface.
