(1765 - 1815) American engineer and inventor of the first practical submarine and torpedo, and established the first commercially successful steamboat, the Clermont. Copperplate mezzotint engraving, 7 1/4" x 10", [Germany, ca. 1820], marred a bit by soiling in white bottom margin and two small scuffs in black area at bottom of image, else very good.
