Vladislav Pravdin, and Nikolai Denisov were acquainted from their student years. Both studied at the Moscow Technical School for Polygraphy and later at the Surikov Art Institute. Upon graduation in 1942, they were drafted and assigned to the Military Artists’ Studio. They produced posters, jointly and individually, through the 1940s and into the 1950s, but primarily concentrated on painting. As a side note, Nikolai Denisov was closely related to two important Soviet poster artists — the son of Victor Deni, he was married to Nina Vatolina.
