The prominent artist, Abel Pann, is most well-known for his figurative, sensual Bible scenes. He studied art in Vitebsk with Yehuda Pen, the Academy of Fine Arts in Odessa, the Grande Chaumiere Academy in Paris. He taught at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design. Pann traveled extensively but eventually settled in Israel in 1920 where he became one of the most important, influential and renowned artists. His approach is classical and figurative but expressive, dynamic and poignant. While Pann´s main subject was the Bible, he was very Zionistic and drew many images of the Holocaust and of Israel
