Hispano-Philippine Carved Niche
The diminutive architectural element with a curved top over a molded cornice centered by a shell carved arch and raised on columns, supported on a thick base and flanked by curved sides, the center is carved out for a miniature Santos figure and possible part of a larger element or retable, painted in red, 19th cent. Hardwood. 10 1/2" h, 5 3/4" w, 3 1/2" d. Condition: Lacking element to top, lacking figure to interior, minor cracks to back, chipping to paint.
