Description
This belt has 5 oval punched oval scalloped silver star burst design conchos, 6 oval star burst design conchos and an oval scalloped silver star burst design concho buckle with turquiose cabachon. Each scalloped silver concho is 2 1/2 inches long, the oval conchos are 1 1/2 inches long and the buckle is 2 1/4 inches long, total belt length is 51 inches. The belt is not signed which is not unusual for this early period. From the estate of John Koehler. Collected in 1950's - 1960's when he purchased a tradding post. Mr. Koehler had a huge estate of Navajo, Anasazi, Pueblo and other Native American collectables including hundreds of Concho belts and squash blossom silver necklaces that came from the trading post. The silver conchas and buckles were put on newer harness leather at a later date. It is unknown what the name of the post was but the majority of the jewelry, belts and blossom necklaces were obviously made by the same Navajo silver smith or same family.
