Culture: Pre-Columbian Classification: Mexico Western Coast, Jalisco Ameca Style Date: 200 BC - 200 AD Size: 19 1/4 inches tall 10 1/4 inches wide Description: A giant earthenware, well polished seated Jalisco pregnant woman. Sensitive facail features, hand to swollen belly. Large scarification noduals on shoulders. remains of black facial tattoos and decorative large tight fitted cap. Wonderful piece. Provenance: Ex- Lucia Meza Collection, acquired in the 1950's. Ex-Arte Primitivo Gallery New York, NY.
