Three Hispano-Philippine Angels

Three Hispano-Philippine Angels
19th century, each carved in wood with stylized shoulder-length hair, and long robes gathered over their knees, covered in gesso and paint. 10 1/2"H.
Condition: each lacking right shoulder and arm, left hand lacking, all feet with losses and distress, painted surface, lacking wings, small areas of worming on verso, painted surface worn, one angel with hairline crack to head, two with small holes (1/4") to verso. Provenance: The Mr. an+C661d Mrs. Lester Andelson Collection Exhibition:The Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin College, February 9, 1981. Literature:Philipine Religious Imagery, Fernando Zobel de Ayala, 1963.
