the rectangular plaque with arched top and hinged doors painted in iron red and green, the doors open to reveal the image of Arch Angle Michael with St. Francis on the left panel and another Franciscan saint on the right panel, the interior painted in iron red, blue, green, brown, and cream. Hardwood, Bohol Province. Probably late 19th century. Closed, 20 3/4" h, 11 1/2" w.
Condition: Good, lacking pulls on doors, minor wear to finish. Provenance: The Mr. & Mrs. Lester Andelson Collection Exhibition: The Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin College, February 9, 1981 Literature: Philippine Religious Imagery, Fernando Zobel de Ayala, 1963
