Hispano-Philippine Santos, 19th c.
carved in the form of the Immaculate Conception, the stylized hair over a flowing robe with wonderful folds, raised on a base comprised of three angels, dark waxed finish, Hard wood, Tabaco, Albay Province. 14" h.
Condition: lacking hands, small crack to base, loss to robe, lacking crescent moons. Provenance: The Mr. & Mrs. Lester Andelson Collection Exhibition: The Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin College, February 9, 1981 Literature: Philippine Religious Imagery, Fernando Zobel de Ayala, 1963
