Hispano-Philippine Santos, 19th c.
carved from wood in the form of a saint possibly San Vicente Ferrer holding an offering of three loaves of bread, out stretched right arm, with applied leather wings and adorned with a floral crown. Softwood, Juban Province. 10 1/2" h. with base.
Condition: Lacking halo, loss to left foot, crack to wing, lacking element in right hand,losses to finish. Provenance: The Mr. & Mrs. Lester Andelson Collection Exhibition: The Allen Memorial Art Museum, Oberlin College, February 9, 1981 Literature: Philippine Religious Imagery, Fernando Zobel de Ayala, 1963
