Item Details

Description

This is an antique folio for a Victorian desktop 'blotter'. Papier mache and hand-painted. A unique find. The top board is the gem and could be framed up beautifully. In the center is a hand painted scene of what appears to be an English countryside. It could be an estate Manor home or Abbey or possibly a cathedral. There are two figures in the foreground. The edges have gold gilt and hand-painted details. Original floral interior boards with sleeve. 12 blotter pages, mostly used. Most of the leather spine is intact. Most likely English, could be an unmarked Jennens & Bettridge piece. SIZE: 11 1/2" x 9". ****** We provide in-house shipping. Low shipping costs! Combine items to save even more! Condition

Top board has small bits of damage and light crackling. Some corner paint loss as shown. Back board has scratches and wear. One corner has more loss which is very typical of these pieces.
