These two lithographs by the German artist Günther Förg are from the ‘Erker Suite’, which comprises in total nine pages and was published in 2000 by Erker Presse in St. Gallen. The edition was 90 + XXX copies, as well as some artist's proofs, to which the two present sheets belong. In a slightly varying structure of horizontal and vertical lines as well as color areas Förg creates by different color combinations compositions of intense and at the same time poetic color effects.

Both lithographs in colors are signed in pencil lower right ‘Förg 2000’ and inscribed in pencil lower left ‘e/a’. Both sheets are in very good condition. The images measure each 50.2 x 42 cm, the sheets 60.5 x 49.8 cm.

Günther Förg (1952-2013)

Förg studied from 1973 to 1979 as a pupil of Karl Fred Dahmen at the Academy of Fine Arts in Munich. In 1984 he participated in the exhibition ‘von hier aus – Zwei Monate neue Deutsche Kunst in Düsseldorf’ and was represented at the 1992 documenta IX. Förg taught from 1992 to 1999 at the Academy for Design in Karlsruhe and then became a professor at the Munich Academy of Fine Arts. (fea)
