A SET OF FOUR STEUBEN CRYSTAL FLARED TEARDROP CANDLESTICKS, DESIGNED BY DONALD POLLARD , PATTERN NUMBER 8032, ENGRAVED SIGNATURE, THIRD QUARTER 20TH CENTURY, each with a cylindrical nozzle on a saucer form bobèche, raised on a conforming stem and rounded flaring base centering a teardrop form air pocket, over an underside with engraved, "Steuben" signature. NOTE: Donald Pollard, a painter as well as a designer is a native New Yorker and started with the Steuben design team in 1950. He attended the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design and was a silver trainee in Boston's Institute of Contemporary Art. He is responsible for a number of designs such as this candlestick which made its debut in 1952. One of his masterpieces is The Great Ring of Canada, a gift from the people and the President of the United States, to the people of Canada by President Lyndon B. Johnson.
