Roman, c. 90-130 AD. Discus style lamp with buff dark reddish brown slip. Mould made with typical circular body with a short rounded nozzle and ring handle. Decorated with a scene probably from the mimes. A naked woman is seated on a couch or stool, her left leg dangling. On the left, a naked man with his large phallus, moves back in surprise, his left hand held high. The woman is pouring water from a jug onto his genitals. Between two figures is a window or box? Maker's name on the base, LVNPHILE. Length is 4 5/8". British Museum Q1320. Extremely rare and in excellent condition.
