Greek Italy, Apulia, c. 330 BC. A dark brown ware kalathos with inverted rim decorated with bank of laurel leaves with dash border. Body with broad band of lotus buds flanked by 2 laurel bands. Some expert repair to one side. Ex. Bonhams in London. Ht: 6.25", D: 7.5". A vase exclusively used by women for storing balls of yarn. Typically found in the tombs of young girls.
