Rome, c. 1st-3rd century AD. A wonderful large marble relief depicting two winged cupids, wings well defined, standing side by side. Both have detailed stoic looking faces with some weathering and loses. Each has their head with wavy hair turned away from the other and one arm over the other's shoulder; their hand resting on the others shoulder. Bodies are well defined and quite muscular. Each cupid with exposed arm missing below elbow. Extreme upper portion of relief with ornate circular design. Marble of pleasing pale white color. A very impressive carving! Ht: 16" x 21" x 4" thick.
