SAMPLER. Large example with an overall design on top consisting of pots of flowers, parrots, a windmill and several figures of men and women including those tending a flock of sheep. Below is an elaborate "Solomons Temple" with initials and a deer. "Elizabeth Storey marked this sampler in the year of our Lord 1843". Strong colors of red, blue, green, orange and brown silk thread on linen. Minor stain. Old gilt frame has wear. 23 1/4"h. 19 1/2"w. This sampler is also from the Emilie B. Savage Collection (see lot 397).
