14 3/4"H. HAND CARVED DOLL. Mahogany Union soldier. Stationary neck and legs with arms jointed at shoulders. Nicely carved and painted facial features include mutton chops and goatee. Dressed in a blue wool uniform and carved cap. Condition EC. History included with the doll indicates he was carved by a wounded soldier in the Libby prison during the Civil War. Mentioned on page 205 of Still More about Dolls by Johl. Truly one of a kind.
