painted wood and tin figure of an Irishman dances on a paper covered box made of recycled cigar boxes that houses a brass clockwork motor, retains original patent tags indicating patent issued to William LaGrove in 1873 and reissued in 1876 and assigning the patent to Ives Blakeslee & Co. in 1876 - certainly a unique item - a copy of the patent application can be found on page 133 of American Clockwork Toys by Blair Whitton, 10" t.
