Hedi Slimane – London Birth Of A Cult A Fender® Stratocaster® with Swarovski Crystals. Inspired by Pete Doherty, Hedi has encrusted his Strat® with over 4,500 Swarovski Crystals, to depict a stylised Union Jack. Hedi Slimane loves British rock music and his design borrows its name from his book, 'London Birth Of A Cult', chronicling two years in the life of the Babyshambles front man. Hedi Slimane has become one of the most revered and in-demand designers of his generation, having worked in the world's leading fashion houses, including Louis Vuitton, Yves-Saint-Laurent, Comme Des Garçons and Christian Dior. In addition to designing the Dior menswear collection, he released Stage – a book of rock photography featuring the White Stripes, Pete Doherty and Franz Ferdinand among others, and the photographic solo exhibition As Tears Go By."I began the project before the tabloids started to get obsessed with Pete (Doherty). From the start I got this really strong feeling that the 'scene' that was building around him was creating this new territory of freedom and romanticism in Brit rock.
