Outstanding Owens Utopian portrait vase by Mary F. Stevens. Depicted is an extremely well-executed portrait of Native American Indian Jack Red Cloud of the Ogallala Sioux (titled and signed on back of vase). The portrait shows great use of early decoration techniques under standard glaze as well as great use of color with the addition of a blue tie around the neck to break up the predominant Earth tones of the piece. Marked J.B. Owens Utopian 1010 8. Incredible condition and aside from only a couple very light scratches to the glaze, the piece is in mint condition. There is a factory 3/8" color miss to the back of the piece. Truly a museum-quality example. 10 3/8" tall by 5" wide.
