Duke Kahanamoku Black Velvet Painting circa 1930's - A georgeous black velvet painting with Duke likeness and Hawaiian wahine tandem partner. The piece is 28" X 34", with a 5" X 3/4" original koa wood frame. The artist is "Lavisse" who studied in the South Pacific and it was painted in the late 1930's , when his paintings were available in Honolulu. This piece was chosen for the Surf Culture Art Exhibit when it was created at the Laguna Art Museum. It hung for the duration of the Laguna Beach presentation and has an official tag attached to the back. Despite it's age, the painting is in excellent condition, with bright color and defined paint strokes.
