    John Baldessari's use of fragments of photographs and film stills, drawn from a vast personal archive gathered continually over the course of his lengthy career, is a well-known and influential style which he first developed in the 1960s and 70s.Baldessari's influence on several generations of artists, many now well-known in their own right, comes from the example of his innovative work as well as his famous decades-long tenure as a teacher at the California Institute of the Arts.
