Walter Alexander Bailey (American, 1894 - 1989)
Farmhouse Near Taos, New Mexico.
Oil on board. c1928. Signed, lower left. 20 x 24 in. (508 x 610 mm). Excellent condition. Walter Bailey worked on the Kansas City Star newspaper as a teenager. He was the recipient of a Tiffany fellowship in art, and was a pupil of Charles A. Wilimovsky and John D. Patrick. Bailey lived and painted in the late 1920s and early 1930s in Taos, then in Mexico and Montana in the mid 1930s. He moved to Los Angeles, where he was the art critic for the Los Angeles Examiner until the late 1960s. He continued to paint until his death in 1989. Framed.
