Title: The Spectroscope and Its Applications

Norman Lockyer Publisher: Macmillan Printing Year: 1873 Details/Condition: Bound in its original brick red leather boards, this antique text is a scarce compilation of scientific lectures about prism and spectroscope technology. Sir Joseph Norman Lockyer (May 17, 1836 - August 16, 1920) was an English scientist and astronomer. Along with the French scientist Pierre Janssen he is credited with discovering the gas helium. The work is illustrated in-text diagrams as well as a large, color fold-out spectrogram showing absorption and radiation of light. The volume shows some external age/wear, with toned boards, and is solidly bound with bright pages free of marginalia. The book measures approximately 5" x 7.25" and contains 117 pages.
