Item Details
Description
Specifications:
Est. 375hp, 472 cu. in. Cadillac V8 engine, turbo 400 transmission, Oldsmobile 98 rear end and rear air suspension, four-wheel disc brakes.
Wheelbase: 126" The 1948 Cadillac "Custom" Series 62 presented here was a low-mileage Sedanette discovered in Northern California in the 1970s. Initially, it was shipped back to Ohio and kept stock with the exception of being fitted with a 472 cubic inch Cadillac crate engine. Enjoyed over the next several years, the Cadillac was then delivered to custom car builder Charlie Brewer in the 1980s. Brewer chopped the top two inches at the front and two and a half inches in the rear. The rear deck lid was spliced and refitted. The next step was removing all the emblems, the hood ornament, the door handles and most other exterior trim pieces. The split windshield was replaced with a cut-down 1950 wrap-around Oldsmobile 98 windscreen. The bumper guards were removed and a single, dual over rider from a 1952-53 Kaiser was added to the rear. The Cadillac was finished off with 48-spoke wire wheels, Goodyear wide whitewall radials, twin Appleton spotlights and twin exhausts.Mechanically, the Cadillac was completely rebuilt and the 472 cubic inch Cadillac V8 engine was fitted with larger displacement 500 cubic inch cylinder heads. A trusty GM turbo 400 automatic transmission was installed along with an Oldsmobile 98 rear end. Under the hood, the engine and compartment were painted and beautifully detailed.Inside, the Cadillac Custom was professionally reupholstered by noted custom interior specialist Bobby Griffey. Ingress via power doors reveals the stylish interior, which consists of two-tone maroon and white vinyl seats and panels. A matching headliner tops off the custom interior, while deep, rich maroon carpeting covers the floors. The dash was completely refinished. Other niceties include such features as an under dash trunk release and a rear Air Supply ride control placed conveniently in glove box. The trunk is completely carpeted in a corresponding maroon and houses a matching spare. This Sedanette has always been carefully maintained, both mechanically and cosmetically over the years and is a turnkey custom. When seated behind the wheel you will discover that this Sedanette cruises with the finesse, flare and attitude only a custom Cadillac can provide.
