Title: Fish and Game of the State of New York: Seventh Report, Forest, Fish and Game Commission
Publisher: Forest, Fish and Game Commission Printing Year: 1092, 92 plates in supplement to the report Details/Condition: Contained in their original sage green cloth folder with gilt embossing, this is a set of 92 exquisite antique color prints illustrating the various fauna of New York State, especially birds and fish. These beautiful plates were executed by some of the nation's foremost nature artists and illustrators, namely Louis Agassiz Fuertes, Sherman Foote Denton, John L. Ridgway, and Oliver Kemp. Of particular interest are the Ridgway and Denton plates, which are all original stone lithographs executed in rich, crisp colors. These highly sought-after original prints comprise more than half of this portfolio, which also includes many stunning full-color halftone reproductions of illustrative paintings by Cornell ornithologist Louis Fuertes. The plates show some mild age/wear, which is generally concentrated at the extremities. The paper is generally free of distracting toning and tears, and the vibrant colors and careful lines all show beautifully. The prints are all loose in the cloth portfolio, which has significant wear and staining. The plates measure approximately 9.5" x 12". Shipping cost (within the U.S.) for this lot will be: $6.50 ImagesClick on thumbnails to see larger images:
