Confederate payment statement, reads " C. S. Pay Office Nashville 3 May 1864 I certify that I have this day paid A W Harris of 1st (illeg) of Co. C 24 Regi't Batt Tenn (illeg?) for services from July 1864 ro 30 April 1864, $270 W. L. Wickham Captain & A. Q. M." In script written vertical in left margin, "Paid also to include the 31 August 1861 W. L. Wickham Capt & a q m." (Captain W. L. Wickham, assistant quarter master). A. W. Harris would refer to Albert W. Harris, who served as a surgeon for the Confederacy during the Civil War. Albert Harris married Fannie Wilson of Waveland. Their son, Albert Harris Jr. married Conn Overton Thompson of Glen Leven. Condition - tears to upper margin, fold creases. Glen Leven estate.
