Empire Mahogany Dresser

Empire dresser with rectangular tilting mirror, supported by boldly shaped scrolled brackets with voluted upper and lower ends, resting on a row of three short drawers with wooden knobs, set above a marble surface. Lower case with rounded corners, three full width drawers with brass keyhole surrounds, wooden pulls and plain fronts, dovetailed drawers. Plain sides and narrow plain skirt above low scrolled bracket feet. Provenance - possibly the mahogany bureau referred to in Susan West's notes as having descended on the Wilson side of her family (Waveland/Cottage Home). Condition - old finish, scattered areas of veneer loss, shrinkage cracks to sides, marble with several small stains, cracks and chips. Dimensions 41 1/4" width x 20 1/2" depth x 84" height.
