Early rectangular writing box with brass edging and escutcheon, birds eye maple interior fitted with slots and compartments. White pine and poplar secondary. Condition - shrinkage crack to right side, no key present, interior knobs not present. 9" x 5" x 2 1/2". Mid 19th century. Additional item - small compass with paper dial in mahogany case. Letter inscriptions on underside. 19th century. Glen Leven estate.
