Victorian bedroom suite with figured oak veneers. Provenance - one reference in Susan West's notes list an "oak b.r."as having come from Glen Leven. Item 1 - figured oak bed with four octagonal posts, headboard with pitched pediment and applied carving, rails and footboard with with shaped ends, turned feet on casters, custom sized mattress. Very good condition. 60" width x 77" depth x 65" height. Item 2 - double door wardrobe with double paneled doors accented with ribbon molding, single paneled sides, flared cornice, plain frieze, scalloped skirt with bracket feet, on casters. Condition - clothes rod replaced, areas of veneer loss and cracking, small area of loose molding on door, large chip to lower left corner of piece. 87" height x 50" width x 19" depth. Item 3 - dresser with three drawers, round pulls, two bowfront glove drawers flanking a single flat fronted short drawer with no pulls, brass keyholes, key present. Oval mirror with beaded molding, supported by carved uprights with finials. Surface with marble inset. Spool turned moldings, plain sides, scalloped skirt on bracket feet with castors. Condition - veneer dry and crazed, mirror replaced, moderate wear and scuffs to skirt. 77" height x 44" width x 20" depth. Item 4 - washstand with marble top and backsplash, single long drawer with hinged writing flap, over two paneled doors with ribbon molding, turned carving at front corners, pierced carved elements at base, on casters. Condition - some missing molding on drawer, marble with pen marks on surface. 39" height x 33" width x 18" depth. Mid 19th century, American. Glen Leven estate.
