Victorian bed with tall arched paneled back, deeply shaped and scalloped with carved decoration, foot board with curved corners having applied carving, oval central panel with carved decoration, scrolled bracket feet. Provenance - receipt found in family documents for "French Walnut Bedstead purchased Dec. 4, 1868 from N.L. Greenfield & Co. of Nashville, Tenn., for $14.00 cash". It is not known if this is the bed referenced in this document, but of all the Glen Leven beds, this one matches the description and age best. Condition - old surface with an area of lightening/bleaching to foot board, fruit carving to headboard may be missing carved element, finials on head posts have breaks and missing drops. Approximately 88" height x 59" width x 81" length. Circa 1870. Glen Leven estate.
