Three Tennessee coin silver spoons, marked J. Campbell

Sign In to see what this sold for

Three Tennessee coin silver spoons, marked J. Campbell (John Campbell, working in Nashville 1836-1857). The inscription reads on front "J. Thompson". Provenance - J. Thompson inscription probably references John Thompson, Susan West's great-great grandfather, who built Glen Leven in 1857. President Andrew Jackson owned silver by John Campbell. Two spoons 6" length. Condition - some pitting and dents to one spoon. Third spoon appears to have a scoop function. The more narrow bowl width and higher walls may indicate this spoon was originally made for a scoop function versus being a modified teaspoon. 5 3/4" length. 2.115 oz. troy total weight for all three spoons. Circa 1850. Glen Leven estate.
