Two etchings by William Strang (Scottish, 1859-1921). 1st etching - signed "W.S." in lower left of plate, pencil inscription in lower margin of matte, "William Strang / Ilustration to Milton's Pardise Lost / cat 259 / original etching". Depicting Satan Rising from the Burning Lake. Mounted under tissue on a paperboard matte. 4 7/8" x 6 5/8" image. Excellent condition. Circa 1896. 2nd etching - signed "W.S." in lower left of plate, pencil inscription in lower margin of matte, "William Strang / Ilustration to Milton's Pardise Lost / cat 258 / original etching". Depicting woman with a serpent's tail and Death with a spear. Mounted under tissue on a paperboard matte. 4 7/8" x 6 5/8" image. Excellent condition. Circa 1896. Glen Leven estate.
