Medical rheostat device marked "McIntosh Battery & Optical, Chicago/The MacLagan Rheostat", white marble slab with Bakelite cased rheostat, measures millamperes, various small knobs. In oak glass front hinged case. A patent search for this device lists it as an "electric shock therapy device." Condition - some wires appear to be missing, case hinge broken, glass clouded, does not appear to be in working condition. 17" x 10" x 6". Circa 1900. Glen Leven estate.
