Documents current research and surveys mostly in biology, geography, hydrology, astronomy, and mathematics. 36 (of 37) plates (mostly folding) consisting of maps, diagrams, and drawings. Vols I-II signed on title page by David Redick (d.1805), lawyer, and surveyor, and Vice President of Pennsylvania. Highlighting his political career was an appointment in 1787 to communicate with the Governor of Connecticut on behalf of the Pennsylvanian government regarding the two states' conflicting territorial claims. In 1794, Redick and William Findlay, siding with the government, coauthored the official document by which the Whiskey Rebellion participants formally surrendered.
