Despite this seemingly genetic pre-disposition to artistic pursuits, Guy C. Wiggins was the most gifted, and most prolific, of the family. He was born in Old Lyme, Connecticut but spent his childhood abroad while his father painted the countryside. Upon his return to the States, Wiggins enrolled as an architect student at the Polytechnic Institute inBrooklyn. It was not long before he decided to follow in the footsteps of his father and focus on painting. He studied at the National Academy of Design under Chase and Henri, eventually becoming a full member in 1919.
